School events and children's parties take place during the Christmas season. Costumes make these events come alive. The famous reindeer costume is one of the main protagonists around this time of the year, because it is a companion and helper of Santa Claus. In the following OneHowTo.com article, we explain how to make a reindeer costume, so you can create an excellent costume without spending too much money.

Steps to follow:

1

A reindeer costume, representing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, who leads Santa Clauses' sleigh, is an original costume for attending a Christmas party.

2

First, you need to get dark brown trousers. If the costume is for a girl, you can choose leggings ir dark brown tights if you are going to wear a skirt.

3

For the top of the outfit, you need a brown jacket with a hood. If you don't have one, you can opt for having a separate cap.

It's best if the tone of brown is the same as the bottom part. This is why if you don't have the same shade of brown, it will be better to go for a brown onesie with a hood instead.

4

The horns for your reindeer can be made by using two beige gloves. Fill both gloves with cotton or fleece.

5

Once ready, sew them into the jacket's hood or hat. Place a glove on each side of the head and, if you don't want to sew them on, you can glue them on with fabric glue.

6

To complete your DIY reindeer costume, you need to simulate its red nose. You should only use paint that is suitable for contact with the skin. With the help of a paint brush, paint a red circle on the tip of the nose.

7

Wear some black or dark brown shoes so they match the rest of the costume and represent the reindeer's hooves. You can also wear matching mittens to create the front hooves too.

As an accessory you can also sew some bells onto your outfit, as Santa's reindeer do wear them while crossing the skies on Christmas Eve!

You can paint your face brown if you want to go for a total reindeer look or just paint in a dark nose if you prefer to leave your face makeup-free.
