Though you'll probably be able to describe the clothes Ash wears by heart as well as the many accessories he carries around with him. Let's take a look at how Ash Ketchum usually dresses so we can make a DIY costume that's as close to the original as possible.

Ash usually wears white sneakers, a pair of light blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a blue and white waistcoat. However, the most highlighted features in this costume have to be his green gloves, red and white cap and his inseparable Pokémon: Piukachu.

To make the cap you can use any baseball cap that has the same colors: white at the front and red at the sides and cap visor. The white area has a big green lopsided V shape on it, an element that you can easily draw on it with a dark green felt pen. If you want a more professional finish, you can also print the logo from the Internet and print it on the cap.

As important as the cap is, your Ash Ketchum costume has to have spiky and messy hair coming out from the sides. If you have dark hair, you can easily use hair gel or spray to spike your hair from the sides. If you don't have similar hair to our Pokémon hero, you can use a dark-haired wig too.

Put on a short sleeved black t-shirt and a pair of jeans with a red belt.

For the blue and white waistcoat, you'll need either a blue waistcoat or shirt. If you go for a shirt, you'll have to cut the sleeves so it's sleeveless. Once you have your blue waistcoat, sew on two sleeves, which will have been previously cut from a white t-shirt. You can also cut up the collar from an old white shirt and sew it on to your blue waistcoat. If you'd also like to add the yellow details on Ash Ketchum's waistcoat, get some yellow fabric and cut up strips of around 12 centimeters (around 5 inches). Cut one strip that is long enough for the bottom of the waistcoat, and two shorter pieces to resemble the pockets.

Now your Ash Ketchum costume is ready, you only need to add some final touches so it looks even more similar to the original.

Put on some white sneakers and a pair of fingerless green gloves. As it may be difficult to find these gloves, we recommend you get some normal green gloves and cut off the fingers from them so they are fingerless.

Don't forget your Pikachu! Find someone else to dress up in a Pikachu costume or get a Picachu stuffed toy. It's up to you!

Finally, you'll only need one more prop to complete your Ash Ketchum costume: Pokéballs.

To make your own Pokéball, you only need a round object, preferably a polystyrene ball, though you can also use other objects such as a tennis ball, Christmas baubles or even an orange.

Paint the top part of the ball red and the bottom half in white with acrylic paint preferably. Once both parts have dried, add a black line to separate the two halves and draw a circle in the middle. Once this layer is dry. Fill the circle with white paint, as you can see in the picture below.

Now you know how to make an Ash Ketchum costume you may want to know how to dress up as a Pokémon such as Pikachu so you have your perfect group costume for Halloween or any other dress-up party.
