Steps to follow:
1

First, you need to make the party invitations for a tween's Halloween party. There are many ideas you can think of, but one of the most simple is to make a coffin invitation, creepy and scary. Let your children help you make them:

Draw a pentagon on a black cardboard. Then draw two vertical lines from the bottom vertex to the top. Cut the outlined pentagon and fold the cardboard inside over the two lines you made. Outline the middle part of the pentagon on a white piece of cardboard so it has the same shape. Cut this quadrangle and stick it on the middle part. Close the tow flaps on the black cardboard and cut a small piece of white paper to stick a cross on the outside. Your coffin invitations are made!

The invitations need to indicate whether you want all the children to come in fancy dress costume and/or makeup. Tweens love to dress up in the latest trends and idols for Halloween, so we recommend you take a look at these articles to find cool ideas and themes:

You also need to think about original desserts such as Vampire cookies, ghostly meringues or a chocolate cemetery.

5

Decorate the table with mummified vases, Halloween straws, napkins decorated with bats and a Halloween centerpiece.

6

Decorate the house with typical Halloween decorations such as monstrous balloons, three-dimensional bats, spider's webs, ghost bunting, spider bunting, candleholders...

7

Prepare an origami workshop for them where they can learn how to make a Dracula face, a bat, a skull or a pumpkin. If it's only girls, you can even create a spooky beauty salon, by painting their nails for Halloween.

You can also prepare some really scary ghost stories. Take a look at these scary games to play with friends at a slumber party for more ideas.

How to make a trick or teat bag with a pillowcase

For some extra fun you can make your own trick or treat bag. In order to make a trick or treat bag out of a pillowcase, you will need a few materials:

  • Solid color pillowcase
  • Ribbon or string
  • A white pencil
  • Scissors
  • Iron-on patches and letters
  • Press cloth
  • Safety pins

You can get Halloween themed ribbon and patches to add some creepy features to your pillowcase.

9

If you want to add a scary face onto your pillowcase, just buy some Iron-on faces, or you can find templates to print out online. Once you find a face that you want on your bag, iron them on very carefully. This is where you will need the press cloth.

Iron-on faces should have instructions on how to do this step properly to get the best results. You can use the white pencil to trace around the Iron-on's just in case you mess up.

Remember that when you are doing Iron-ons, it is very important to lay the pillowcase flat on the ironing board or other flat and hard surface.

When you are making the drawstring to your trick or treat bag, you must make sure that it is very sturdy. Cut two oval holes in the top of the pillowcase. Make sure that they are about an inch around. Cut a piece of your ribbon or rope. Cut about 54 inches of it just to make sure that it goes around the entire width of the pillowcase. Attach the safety pins to the ribbon or rope and you can pull it all the way through. This will save you the time that it would take to sew the drawstring in. When you have pulled the ribbon all the way through, you can remove the safety pin and now tie the bag shut with the drawstring.
