Easter is a time for renovation and creation - and in some countries there is a tradition of making an Easter Bonnet, a colorful and Easter-themed hat. This tradition comes from the IXXth century New York, where it was customary for the New York elite to wear their new hats and bonnets to church on Easter Sunday. With a bit of creativity and some simple materials you will be able to make an Easter Bonnet for a boy.

Find a hay hat and several accessories to add to the hat. There are many shops with inexpensive articles and craft shops that have this kind of material. If you're planning to make an Easter bonnet for a boy, we suggest going for hay, feathers and seashells, as well as the typical chick and eggs. To complete the list of accessories, also buy a 2 centimeter (0.8 in) wide, pastel ribbon. Choose a color that your son likes for the ribbon. Some suggestions are yellow, green or light blue.
Tie the ribbon to the hat with a bow. Choose at least a 2 centemeter wide ribbon so you can wrap it around the hat, just over the border. This will make the accessories stand out. Use a glue gun to apply a fine layer on the back of the ribbon and press firmly so it sticks to the hat. Leave it to dry.
On the base of the hat, stick the hay to create a nest. The amount you need depends on how much you want the hay (that will depict a nest) to stand out. Use the glue to apply a generous amount to stick the hay to the bottom part of your Easter bonnet.
Add the eggs and chicks on top of the hay base we have created previously. On the curved part of the hat, finish decorating with the rest of the accessories. You can combine a sea shell with a feather. If you like, you can also add other accessories such as plastic fruit, dry coloured sticks or other small toy animals.
