How to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary party

Not everyone has the privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, or what's known as the famous Golden anniversary. Therefore, it's an event that should be celebrated in style, ensuring that it remains an unforgettable memory of a cherished moment. Perhaps you have the opportunity to organise this 50th wedding anniversary for your parents or for yourselves. If you're unsure about how to go about it, we'll give you some tips about how to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary party.

Steps to follow:

1

Before starting the preparations, start to compile the guest list. This isn't like a wedding itself, so if you want to save money, just invite the important people who you've known over the years. Children, grandchildren and other relatives, as well as those special friends who have been important during your life. These are the ideal guests to celebrate a 50th anniversary with.

2

A golden anniversary celebration can be held in many different venues. You can choose a restaurant of your choice that has the capacity to fit all your guests. A perfect place to celebrate with those nearest and dearest.

Also, if your house is large enough, you can choose to host the celebration there and hire a good catering company. If you have a garden and the weather is right, there's no better option than moving the party outside.

Another possible option for celebrating a golden anniversary is at a special venue. They offer a complete service for these type of events. So, if you decide to host the party there, they'll manage all of the details. The venues have special menus to celebrate 50th anniversaries, so just ask for them.

If you need others' help with the planning and organization, hire an event planner. They will take care of everything to the last detail, following your directions. It's a little more expensive, obviously, but the outcome is well worth it.

5

If you want to have an unforgettable celebration and you'd like to have memories of that time, be sure to hire a good photographer and a band if you'd like to dance.

For this type of event, there's usually a small ceremony where the couple can symbolically renew their vows. It's a very emotional moment when both the bride and groom can give a speech. Remember the years you've spent together and share this joy with all the guests. 50 years of marriage provides many memories and stories, so mention some of them.

Apart from the vows a good idea to decorate the room of the venue is to place several photos of the couple's finest moments and those shared with the people attending the celebration.

As for the attire, many people use their wedding dress and adapt it for the occasion. The original fabric can be used to make a new dress and this can be quite touching. The groom, meanwhile, can wear the cuff links or tie he wore at the wedding, if he still has them.

However, there is no need to be too formal, the bride and groom can decide to play it low key and choose smart dresses. Just make sure to tell the guests what kind of ettiquette is required.

Rings or a wedding cake are also common for this type of 50th wedding anniversary celebrations.

After this special celebration, the couple can take a short getaway to celebrate their anniversary. Many choose to go to the same place where they celebrated their honeymoon, but you can also choose another destination, one that grabs your attention and where you've never been before.

Hi Bonnie,

If you are holding your event in a restaurant, the best thing to do is liase with the management. Explain your needs and how you want the event to go. If they are good at their job, they should be able to tell you how you can best accommodate the group given certain parameters. Just remember to be friendly. The staff are much more likely to better accommodate you if they don't think you are rude.
